Meeting 2.02

Meeting 2 has helped refine some of the ideas initially discussed:

- Core theme still to explore the visualization of sound through movement.
- Understanding mood/emotion through colour and movement.
- To Identify the study population in more detail and understand their demographics.

- To identify the best location for conducting the experiment:
If the location is to take place in a museum, then to understand the type of participants likely to participate or engage in the research objectives. This will also have an impact on the way sound and visual testing equipment is installed to ensure a record of accurate results without the interference of confounding variables.

If the location is to be based in a university setting (i.e. LJMU exhibition space), then we will have to be conscious of the type of participants recruited and, in both instances, to recruit a variation of participants that reflect a wider audience.

I suggest creating three study groups based on age (e.g. 18-29 years, 30-39 years, 40+ years) to give a fair variation.

Experiment ideas: Sound
Test 1: gender difference – participants (1 male and 1 female within the same age bracket) to pick the colour they use.
- Enter testing room, react to all sounds in the room through movement of feet.
- Participants to exit testing space and to pick a colour of their choice before re-entering the test, this time subjects asked to perform emotionally expressive foot movement to test whether the mood of the previous sound has had an impact on the participant's emotions, reactions, and movement in a particular way.
Do selected sounds affect mood?

Test 2: Age differences (mood and movement to sound)
